No. When buying a used car, warranties have to be stated. No warranty no recourse. Even with a car dealer it is the same. But a car dealer is expected to state any known problems, but a private seller is under no such obligation. If you don't ask they don't have to tell.

Nope. Lemon law covers only new cars. In VA its only good for the first 18 months from the date the car was first sold.

No not private party,not unless you were given a specific warranty, should have used cars checked at a shop before you buy because it is buyer be wear.
