Lemon laws apply only to the sale of new automobiles, not used ones.

NO,except I believe the seller is supposed to pay for smoging the vehicle at time of sale unless you took as is.You may have not tightened the gas cap,that will turn on the check engine light.

No. You likely bought the car as-is. See what the CEL is about before you start talking about laws. Might be something simple. Good luck.
